Kerry Association in Dublin Annual Weekend Away – 6 to 8th October 2017
Over 80 people joined the Kerry Association in Dublin’s Annual Weekend Away from Friday 6th to Sunday 8th October for a wonderful weekend of entertainment in the Kingdom.
This year, due to popular demand, the group returned to the Manor West Hotel in Tralee where they once again were superbly looked after by the management and staff.
On Saturday the group embarked on a day trip to Listowel which began with a walk by the River Feale and through the Garden of Europe under the expert guidance of poet, Gabriel Fitzmaurice. Gabriel, along with Karen Trench and Eileen Cronin, regaled the group with poetry, songs and recitations from local writers, John B. Keane, Bryan MacMahon, Sean McCarthy, Pat Given and John McAuliffe in the very surroundings that were the source of much of their inspiration. Some photos of the walk available in the Gallery section of the website.
After enjoying lunch in the Listowel Arms Hotel, the group headed to John B. Keane’s famous pub on William Street for an afternoon of pub theatre. Master of ceremonies, Billy Keane, along with Mickey McConnell, Gabriel Fitzmaurice and Kevin Barry kept the audience enthralled.
Music in the Manor Hotel after dinner each night was provided by Stevie Donegan and The Singing Jarvey who had everyone on the dancefloor.
It was a hugely enjoyable weekend where we saw Kerry hospitality at its best in both Tralee and Listowel. Plans are already underway for the 2018 weekend away which will be held in Ennis from 5th to 7th October 2018. So save the date!
